PESHAWAR (News Desk): Security forces killed seven suspected terrorists in North Waziristan and Mohmand tribal districts in two operations spread over Monday night and Tuesday. According to the Inter Services Public Relations, security forces cordoned off North Waziristan’s Idel Khel village after being tipped off about the “presence of terrorists”. Four of the suspects were shot dead when they tried to escape the cordon. In the other operation, security forces killed three terror suspects during a raid in Mohmand tribal district, according to ISPR. The security forces recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs), night vision goggles, hate material and Indian medicines from the hideout. The incidents of terrorism and other crimes have decreased in the year 2019 as compared to 2018, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police said in a report. According to the report, seven incidents of kidnapping for ransom took place during the current year as compared to 11 in the year 2018, showing a decrease of 35 percent. Moreover, 20,889 proclaimed offenders were arrested during 2019 as compared to 20,884 of last year. Likewise, 26 cases of vehicle snatching happened during the current year as compared to 31 such cases of last year, showing a decline by 16 percent. The report also says a total of 6,277 incidents of festive firing were reported during 2019, compared to 7,206 incidents of 2018. During the current year, 79 incidents of terrorism took place as compared to 81 incidents of the previous year. Moreover, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police also gave a tough time to narcotics peddlers. A total of 22,979kg narcotics have been recovered during the current year as compared to 20452kg narcotics of last year. This year, the police recovered 21,113kg charas compared to 19,051kg in 2018. The police also took into possession 767kg opium during the current year as compared to 716kg of last year. Similarly, 989kg heroin was recovered as compared to 658kg of last year. Likewise, the police took into possession 108.721kg ice during the ongoing year as compared to 26.078kg of the year 2018. Also, 31,841 cases were registered in violation of the Arms Act as compared to 30,256 cases of last year. During the current year, 2309 dynamites were recovered as compared to 1073 in the previous year. About 2,299 riffles were recovered as compared to 2259 of the previous year. This year, 6763 shotguns were seized as compared to 6682 of last year and 30558 pistols recovered during the current year against 28134 of last year.
