On 5th August, 2020 Indian Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple in Ajodhya, Modi took political leadership of his party’s promise made in 1996, the site has been at the center of country’s most politically and culturally divisive land dispute. This development came after the Indian Supreme court’s judgement. The disputed land site was a historical heritage, the mosque was built in 1528 AD on the order of Mughal Emperor Babar. It was located on the hill known as Ramkot, according to Hindus the pre-existing temple was destroyed to construct the mosque, existence of temple itself is subject to controversy and varied opinion. The holy site remained controversial for both Hindus and Muslims, in 1949 Hindu Mahasabha activists placed idols inside the mosque and impeded Muslims from offering prayer inside the mosque.
After the incident Govt. locked the mosque and it was declared “out of bound” for public. 6th December 1992 was the black day when a crowed of charged Hindu nationalists from (RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other radical parties) demolished the mosque which resulted in countrywide riots and claimed the lives of 2,000 people. In September 2010, Allahabad High Court passed a judgment in an effort to settle almost two decades old saga between Hindus and Muslims, 1/3 of total land was awarded to Muslims for construction of mosque, and 2/3 of land was allocated for the Temple. This decision proved unpopular between both parties and an appeal against the decision was filed in Supreme Court of India.
The final verdict of Supreme Court of India came on 9th November 2019 “1.77 acres of land will be handed over to trust(to be constituted by government)to build the Ram Mandir and also ordered to allocate 5 acres of land in another place to “Sunni Waqf Board” for building mosque. Since BJP took the reins of the government in India, there has been increased radicalism and intolerance in the country, the ideology of Hindu supremacy and Hindutva are haunting the future of minorities and their basic human rights.
The radicals Hindu activists are fully backed and supported by government and law enforcement agencies. Multiple videos and phots are shared on social media where Muslims are lynched publicly in the presence of Police and Paramilitary Forces, violent and anguished mobs are beating minorities to death has become a routine. India according to its constitution is a secular country, where religion is a least important affair, but inauguration of Ram Temple by the Primer of a secular state is certainly not a normal affair, on the other hand UP’s Chief Minister Yogi Adithynath said he cannot go for inauguration of mosque since he is Hindu and a Yogi.I believe this statement is enough to prove the duplicity of BJP’s leadership and their mindset.
PM Modi and his followers have done grave harm to India’s international reputation, Dehli violence and abolishing the article 370 of Indian constitution are the classic examples. As long as PM Modi and BPJ are ruling India, India does not need any enemy. Modi’s nationalism and radicalism driveare nurturing 200 million enemies in India.
